Flues & Voids

Ensure your property's flue is accessible with an inspection hatch installation

A safe boiler is that one has a flue which is accessible, and which can be thoroughly checked.  Unfortunately, not all flues can be checked to the required standard due to accessibility issues, which is why the installation of an inspection hatch is often necessary so that it can be done.  That's where our team at Safe Gas in Newtownabbey come in.  Wherever you're based in Northern Ireland - Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Belfast, Lisburn, Ballyclare or Bangor - we can visit your property and make the required changes.  To enquire, speak to our team today.

DON'T BE 'AT RISK'

At the end of - and after - 2012, any registered gas engineer will place your boiler “At Risk” if they cannot fully examine the flue. They will formally advise you to fit inspection hatches in the appropriate places so that an inspection can be fully carried out. Until the hatches have been installed, the boiler will remain “At Risk”, which can mean possible exposure to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, which can cause serious injury and even death. You or your landlord will need to arrange for the inspection hatches to be fitted.

OUR TEAM ARE THE SOLUTION

Contact us for a hassle-free inspection hatch installation courtesy of our competent experienced tradesmen.  Our team are fully insured and can fit white powder-coated, BS fire-rated metal access panels.

Although most affected boilers and flue systems are relatively new (installed since 2000), the risk of faults leading to the release of CO increases as the system gets older, especially if it's not serviced regularly. The Gas Safe Register website has more information.

Our team aims to:

  •  Turn up on time or keep you informed of any delays
  •  Always use dust sheets to keep work areas clean
  • Tell you what costs are likely to be involved for your particular property before we start
  • Keep furniture movement to a minimum
  • Explain exactly what we propose to do and where we will fit the access panels
  • Fit metal, white, 1-hour fire-rated, 300mm x 300mm access panels where required, as recommended by the ‘Gas Safe’ technical bulletin
