EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY

Our Safe Gas engineers are capable of solving any boiler problem and all our boiler engineers are fully qualified and have a wealth of boiler repair and fault-finding experience. Our vans are well equipped with stock, meaning 99% repairs can be finished in a single visit.

Oil boiler servicing should be carried out annually to make sure that your boiler remains safe, reliable and efficient. If oil boilers are left for a long period of time without a service, they can “soot-up”. This makes the boiler less efficient and less reliable, resulting in increased fuel consumption and higher maintenance and repair costs. Boiler servicing is also very important from a safety perspective, as during a service the boiler will be checked for damage, leaks and carbon monoxide emissions.

BOILER SERVICING

To ensure that your boiler is properly serviced, it is important to make sure that you find a technician who is qualified in oil-fired boiler servicing. Our OFTEC-registered engineers are fully trained and regularly monitored to make sure that their safety procedures are up-to-date.

During your service, the engineer will check that your boiler is in good working condition and will test the safety and efficiency of your system. A typical oil boiler service usually takes around an hour.  The engineer will:

  • Visually inspect the boiler and all associated pipes or areas (including your oil tank and supply pipe) to make sure that they comply with current safety regulations
  • Inspect and clean out the flue
  • Replace or clean the oil filters and oil nozzle
  • Check for water in your oil tank
  • Use a flue gas analyser to check combustion
  • Check the supply pipe for any signs of leakage
  • Remove the boiler casing and clean internal components (such as the heat exchanger and burner)
  • Test all safety systems to make sure that they are functioning correctly (this includes any thermostats, pressure relief valves and burner lockout devices)
  • Ask if you have experienced any issues with the boiler
  • Turn the boiler on to check that it is working correctly

When your boiler service is complete, the engineer will give you an OFTEC CD/11 form. This will list everything that has been done as part of the service.  We also carry out repairs and servicing for gas boilers.
